Planning

Have you wished that you can plan your writing better? I try to plan or at least have a rough idea of where I am going with my writing. I know at the very least it will have a beginning, middle and an end. But sometimes I just like to see where an article wants to go.
I have been looking into what others do with there own planning and I have found some great sites that talk about planning and how it can help give us writers more writing time.
I am going to take a closer look at some of these websites to see if they will give me any ideas that I can use.

Reading Aloud

I have been thinking about editing and reading aloud since my last post.  I have made an effort to read my writing aloud.  It has made a real difference in the flow of my writing, if I stumble then others will too, and this could effect future work.
I just have to make sure that others in the house know that I am not just talking to myself and I am still working.

Editing

I have been reading a lot of articles about editing your own work and it made me think about the time I put into writing and researching an article and the time I put in editing. I am wondering if I should make an effort to increase this.
The steps I am going to take:-

• Read my articles out loud to check for grammatical errors
• Review the whole article and make sure that I am happy
• Think twice before I press the send button containing my latest creation

This is an excellent book if you are a writer, it doesn't matter if you are new to writing or more experienced you will learn something from this book.
This is a book you can dip in or read from cover to cover.  It is divided into different sections so you can easily find the section that most interest you at that time.  This book is suitable for non-fiction writers as well as fiction writers and throughout the book it gives you things to do and think about and at the end of each chapter there is a comprehensive round up of all the information in the chapter.
It is defiantly a book that I will refer to time and time again.  

Book review for "Let Sleeping Dogs Lie" by Janet Edmonds

I thought I would write about the book that I have just finished reading.
Let Sleeping Dogs Die by Janet Edmonds ISBN: 0002323915
This is an old book and was published in 1992 and is part of the HapperCollins crime club editions. I picked this up in a library sale a few years ago and have only just got around to reading it.  For such an enjoyable book, I wish I had got round to in sooner.  I really enjoyed the simplicity of the story and the structure, it was an enjoyable book to read.  It is not a long book and there are very limited twists and turns but it is a pleasant read.
A government vet, Linus Rintoul, gets involved in a discreet question from a vet that is associated with the Kennel Club regarding the age of a dog breeder they have both had contact with.  This quickly turns to people being killed and the question of why seems improbable and unlikely.
I would recommend this book to anyone that wants some light reading, there are a few murder scenes but they are not overly gruesome. Thoroughly enjoyed this book.

Writing Green

I do try and write green! I try not to print out my writing unless I have to.  I try and use the computer when I write so as not to use too much paper.  I write in the morning because I know my solar panels are working to pay for the electric I am using.

Writers block

Writers block is one that is never far from my thoughts what if...
But when I put a pen in my hand and just start to write ideas start flowing not necessarily what I was thinking I was going to write. It is just a way to get the writing processes working again.
